John 4:13-14

Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

Earlier this year, Pastor Jack Kale along with Duke MaCaa , Bob and Linda Spencer and several other GBUMC members visited villages along the Save Conservancy in Southeast Zimbabwe. They dedicated three wells dug by Gulf Breeze which now provide clean, safe drinking water for hundreds of women , men and children everyday! They also begin the process of building relationships and trust with the people and the leaders of these villages.

Then in the fall, a two member delegation, Dr. Bob Spencer and Senior Pastor Lester Spencer traveled to Zimbabwe with the primary goal to establish a firm working relationship and partnership with the United Methodist Church of Zimbabwe. They participated in the dedication of a new roof put on a large school in the village of Mkwasine, GBUMC provided the resources for the roof construction. The school houses about 300 kids, and one of the three wells was dug next to the school for their use. There were approximately 500 plus people gathered for the dedication, and we all enjoyed some Cape Buffaloo for lunch! (taste like beef but 10 times tougher) For the dedication of the roof there were local officials, tribal leaders, representatives from Zambezi Hunters (one of our partners in this venture), five Pastors and top leaders from the UMC of Zimbabwe ( the main partners ) and many 100s of villagers.

While in Zimbabwe, the team visited other villages and meet with their leaders. One such village was Nyangambe. A village of approximately 5,000 people in a very spread out rural, farming community. There are various needs in Nyangambe, but one of the needs was for a church. In this entire community there was not one church! As a result of the meeting, the village leaders offered land to build a Methodist church and it is a goal of GBUMC in partnership with the Zimbabwe UMC to see this become a reality.

As we continue to explore other future mission projects with our partners in ministry in Zimbabwe, please keep these efforts in your prayers!! We know there is a huge need for wells providing clean, safe drinking water in these villages along the Save.  Also, there is a need for new churches , medical clinics and help with the schools.
